#398 NOREV – RENAULT R4 FOURGONNETTE (711), CAMARGUE BERTONE (714) and CITROËN BX (794) (Around 1984)

I have recently observed, that a long time has passed, since I presented one die-cast model in 1:43 scale. This month, there will be at least two, this one, plus another one by the end of the month.

Well, these are two models made by Norev in 1:43 scale by the mid 80s. I think they could be from around 1984, because the BX was sold for the first time in 1982 (the other two models are older) and none of the models have a reference number on the base plate. Earlier models were numbered.

The Jet-Car line was launched in 1971. The first models had plenty of practicable parts, beautiful wheels and also stickers/decals. While the first models were very well detailed, they were evolving and becoming more toy-like. Especially the wheels, which were much nicer in the older models, were replaced by normal one-piece plastic wheels. The five radius wheels (the ones you can see in this pictures) are the last ones used.

As seen in the catalogue here, these three models belong to the “budget” line: series 700. Models in the series 800 were decorated with stickers or had extra parts, like plastic bumpers (not part of the chassis or the body of the car), spoilers or some plastic accessory like a roof rack.

As you can see, the models are really nice, they are all very charismatic models, the Citroën BX and the Renault were popular cars, while the Camargue was a famous prototype, that would inspire future models like, precisely, the BX. It was also the first cooperation between Bertone and Citroën.

I forgot to take the picture of the base plate of the Camargue Bertone, but it is marked 1972... probably the year in which the cast was done and released for the first time (with different wheels).
