#392 MC TOY / MAISTO – FORMULA 1 RACER and INDY RACER IN 1:64 SCALE (1987)

My last entry for now dealing with MC Toy and Maisto will show two models from around 1987, each of them in two decorations.

The first model is the Formula 1 Racer in Yellow and Black. The sponsors of the yellow car are German Motors and Nürburg-Ring. Nice!

The second model is the Indy Racer in White and Black. The sponsor of the black car is "German Motors" and "Hockenheim-Ring". Nice!

Unfortunately, I do not have much more to say. I checked Maisto catalogue from 2013 and there are still a few models from the 80s, I am quite sure they are the same casts, but most references are much modern cars. The catalogue has two parts, the first one with bigger scales, and the second part deals with “toys”. The 1:64 collections are in the second part.

It is interesting, that MC Toy cars were available under so many different brands. I think it is quite complicated to follow the track for every model and variations. Most collectors will only focus in one particular brand (in my case, only MC Toy, but I would also like to collect some Guisval). Maisto, being more modern (mid 90s), don’t interest me much.

UPDATE: Indy Racer "Pennzoil" in yellow. Seems to be more modern, since it has rubber wheels. Don't know much about it, but the plate is less detailed and the MC Toy logo is located differently from the two models above. Rare model.
