This second
entry about golden girl will deal with the outfits that were released together
with the figures in 1985. As said in the previous article, there are 27
outfits.
Curiously,
each outfit is intended to be used with one particular figure, although all
figures (except Ogra and Prince Kroma) have the same measures. This marketing
mistake was corrected by applying a sticker on the blister bubble: “May be worm
by each Golden Girl figure”. The statement is not true since Ogra does fit in
most of those outfits.

are also divided in three groups:

has 9 outfits (or fashions) and they are always the same:
- Golden Girl
- Saphire
- Rubee
- Jade

In the picture above, taken from the backcard of the outfit, we can see the charriots and the palace better than in the previous entry. Additionally, I'd like to mention that there was a "Golden Girl Fan Club" you could join by simply sending a voucher and 4,95 US Dollars. By sending 10 proofs of purchase, you could get that membership for free. The membership included a t-shirt, a magazine, a poster, a certificate, an ID card and one or more newsletters. The voucher was printed both in the outfits and the figures, and I guess also in the Palace and the Charriots.

Oh how fun! Golden Girl was such a fun line. There were quite a few lines that all had that She-Ra flair at the time. I think Golden Girl was the one that really provided somewhat of a rival though. I forgot that Galoob was the brand behind GG. How fun! I loved reading this.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thanks for the comment. I was also pretty impressed by the quality of these Golden Girl dolls, I thought they might be worse than She-Ra, but they're also great: the plastic of the body, the clothes, hair, accesories... even the packaging is great.
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting that both Golden Girl and Princess of Power were copyrighted almost simultaneously, which line do you recall first?
By the way, now that I have meet Dragon Queen, I think my old "Goddess of the Ultracosmos: Goddess of Stibnite" might be inspired in her.
